A salt that melts for a moment improves the perovskite cell layer
Researchers improved a solar cell by adding a salt to its light-absorbing layer that melts briefly and then escapes. The cell turns more than 25 percent of light into current, but so far it is only a laboratory test.
The element that appeared out of nowhere. Caesium unlocked lead-free perovskite
For a decade, labs tried to replace lead with tin in perovskite solar cells. It never worked. A team in Brisbane found the hidden reason — and fixed it with caesium, an element nobody considered.
27.2 percent. How China solved the problem blocking silicon's successor
Perovskite reached silicon's efficiency in 15 years — yet it is on no rooftop. Beijing just removed the last obstacle: an invisible chlorine problem. Europe still bets on compromise.
Perovskite will not wait for Poland
Flexible perovskite cells achieve 23.7% efficiency under sunlight and 42.5% under artificial light. Bifacial sealing solves the problem of cracked grain boundaries. Polish paradox: Saule Technologies no longer exists, but the patents and know-how still exist.
A binder that spoils the cell. New interface chemistry could unlock perovskites
Phosphonic acids destroyed the perovskites from the inside. The new binder extends module life >22% to T90 3000h and brings silicon/perovskite tandems closer to production.
